What is a short haul move? This is a move that is less than 450 miles. Make sure to inquire with your moving company as you may have to pay long distance charges even for short haul moves.
What is a local move? This usually refers to moves that are less than 100 miles and within the same state.
What is an intrastate move? This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state.
What is a re-weigh? Depending on the type of estimate you obtained, your goods may be re-weighed once they have been loaded on to the moving truck or van. In this case, your moving charges will be based on the re-weighed amount.
What is an international move? This is a move where your items must cross an international boundary, regardless of actual distance.
Should I store items that won’t fit in my new home? ?You can choose to store items that won’t fit. However, if you have items that are old or have little value, you may be better to sell or donate them instead of paying the high cost of storing them for a long period. ?
Why do you ask for my email address and phone number? We require an email address and a valid phone number so our partner moving companies can contact you and quote your move. Most companies will schedule a time to come to your location and write up an estimate on what your move will cost with that specific moving company.
What is freight service? Freight service is cheaper than a full-service move because movers transport your items to your destination and leave them at the doorstep of your new home. All your items must be boxed in advance, and movers won’t wrap individual pieces of furniture.
How long will it take me to move? Your actual move will depend on many factors including the weather conditions, size of your shipment, time of year, distance to your destination and time required for loading and unloading.
Can my movers disconnect my gas? No, movers are not licensed to disconnect gas so you will have to hire another professional to perform this service.
Why is there no phone number on your site? We gather the information you provide and send it to several different moving companies. It is an automated system and to continue to keep it optimal, quick and free of charge, the overhead of a call center is not a priority for MovingTruckService.com at this time. We would like feedback on the above decision if you would like to share.
Can I schedule a move even if my home is currently under construction? You can, but we highly recommend that you wait until your home is completely finished. Construction can increase the timeframe and possibility of damage on moving day.
What should I do if I haven’t finished packing by my moving day? If you realized you won’t be finished packing by your move date, make sure to inform your moving company as soon as possible. You may be able to hire professional packers to help you finish the job or move on a different date. Your movers may be able to pack up a small amount of items, but you will end up paying more for the move.
